Let me start by saying I'm in no way affiliated with West Marine or Garmin but I had to pass along this great deal to all the helpful people on this forum. I've been in the market for a good handheld GPS and have heard pretty good reviews on the Garmin 76cx on this forum and elsewhere. West Marine currently has a sale going on where if you buy the Bluechart g2 card for $149.99 you can purchase the 76cx for $99.99. The 76cx usually retails for $249.99 on it's own. So basically you get the charts for free. The sale is from today to the 19th. I know for me my "boat bucks" are at a premium and I'll be buying a new outhaul with the money I saved lol. Hope this doesn't break any forum rules but it seemed like a good deal to pass on.

Kevin, let me first say this in no way breaks any rules. We appreciate hearing about sales, deals or product reviews, etc., at least from members, as long is the post is sailing related. Anyway, I went on WM's site but don't see the $99 deal. Personally, as I already have a similar device, I find that the screen size is too small, at least for my eyes. I have an IPhone which for me, works great but the screen is still smaller than I would like. Iam waiting for the IPad 3 to come out and baring any negative reviews, will more than likely buy one. Hope you find deal on outhaul. Steve A
I'm glad to hear that it's not breaking any rules. The sale was on their printed circular and I believe it's in store only. I received the circular last week stating the sale started today. I had actually bought the 76cx the week prior to getting the circular and was going to go back for the charts this week after paying some end of the month bills lol. I promptly returned my unit this past weekend and was waiting for the sale to start. I called my local West Marine earlier today to make sure the sale started today as I couldn't find it on the site either. The girl checked the circular and said it was indeed on sale for $99.99 with the purchase of the Bluecharts G2 micro SD card and even put one aside for me to pick up after work today. I too have an iPhone with the Navionics software on it which is very useful and helpful. I do like the idea of the GPS being waterproof and floating as we have a 15 year old who lately has been taking the helm and I would promptly throw over if he dropped my phone in I know it's no replacement for paper charts but it's a good backup. My feeling is with certain things redundancy can be helpful especially sailing the Great South Bay in Long Island where it can get very shallow in parts.
