Love the "splicing the main brace" story. I've told the folks at the docks this weekend and now we have a prefect rationale to drink more! Funny enough, I'd forgotten about Pusser's Rum. We used to own liquor stores years ago and my father gave me a huge ceramic "sqautty" moonshine gallon of pusser's rum complete with waxed cork and a decanter replacement cork once the bottle has been opened. It's been on a shelf in my kitchen for ten years now. Do you think it's still good? Only one way to find out, eh?
I just updated my pic page to include some new shots of the interior and exterior, it any one is still interested. I'll post the shots of my new countertop, keel trunk "coffee table" and the little panel that hides the keel winch as soon as I'm done working on them. enjoy!
http://www.proxycreative.com/luckystar.html

The pictures look great, you really need to dirty up the cockpit a little more, with stuff looking that white your going to make the rest of us look bad...
The cover over your rope locker in the forward berth, did the boat come with that or did you make that?
Also, I mentioned it on a dead post, or maybe it was this one...if you really want to try one of the J-24 spinakers, I have a spare to throw your way....rather cheap too.
Hey, Duanne, yes, the boat came with that little piece up there stock, I believe. I wonder if Catalina Direct has one? I'm all into these woodworking projects now, maybe I could make you one in exchange for a spinnaker? I don't think I would be able to do it in teak, but maybe birch veneer or walnut veneer and you can stain it to match. You'd also have to put that trim material around the outside that you see throughout the boat (a light brown naugahyde rope like stuff in mine) I'd need you to send a picture of the the front of your vberth with a ruler held up at the end to see if it's the same shape, config in the mold as mine is. I'll be down to the boat this weekend and can get that piece to copy.
FYI, Just called Catalina Direct and they, nor Catalina Yachts, sell that piece and require a template to have one made.
How much is the Spinnaker worth?
We're wheelin' and dealin' now, eh?

I just spent most of the day updating my Boat web site. New pictures can be found here http://home.bak.rr.com/edlgs/ . Check out the new countertop.
Wow, that counter modification that extends into the port locker is cool and that radio mount looks first rate! How's about doing some woodwork on North Star? With your talent, I could make an enclosure for the jacuzzi. Again, nice looking woodwork!

Don, I am afraid that travel time/expense from So Cal would consume too many boat units.
Its realy nice to see some of the mods people are doing. It gives others ideas and winter projects to do. The work I've seen is fantastic. The best project I have seen so far was John Mason's nesting dinghy. perhaps we can talk him into posting so pictures.
Here are some pictures of me and Rebecca on Escape (1981) on Long Island Sound. There are a couple of our recent trip to Italy since it is getting a little cold out there.
