We just put the battens back in our sail after getting it back from Sailcare. They all seem to be about 2" too long which I don't recall noticing when I took them out. If I push them hard enough into the pocket, it curves the sail, which could be the intent? I don't think the sail has shrunk, and I checked that it was the right sail number (first thing that occurred to me).
Anyone have any insight about this?

I had Sailcare take care of my 14 year old mainsail this winter as well. My battens do stick out about an inch and do put a little shape into the mainsail but my Dutchman furling system still works and the sail looks great! - Will SV Stardust C250 WK #215 -waiting for parts in Hingham, MA
Will, how is that Dutchman system when you raise and lower the mast? I have been intrigued by that system as I would love to simplify lowering and flaking the sails.
Randy: The Dutchman system works great! It takes two minutes to feed the two mono filament lines thru the main. Just lower the topping lift, feed the lines thru and use a phillips screw driver to "loop in" the mono filament. If there's no wind, it's easy to do. Will SV Stardust C250 # 215 sailing tomorrow because the parts arrived today!
