I would love to have shift/throttle levers at the Edson pedestal on my C250. I have a 2000 Honda BF15 outboard with electric start. I have seen pictures of this modification on the web - a 2005 C250 with newer generation of Honda outboard:
I have contacted the seller of this boat (and its previous owner) for info, but no luck on any details so far.
Have any of you done this modification for a Honda outboard? Any idea of what parts to get - Edson control assembly + throttle/shift cables? Any suggestions about how to route the cables, and what length cables work best?
FYI, I don't really like the Honda control console. It looks awful and creates a tripping hazard if mounted on the starboard cockpit locker. (Sorry if I'm offending anyone out there.) So if I ever do this, it will have to be with the Edson pedestal controls.

Note that in the photo of the first outboard setup the throttle and gear cables are the ones that loop off to the port side. The white fat pipe holds the electric cable and the other black hose is the fuel. On that boat the looped control cables enter the boat via the transom. On the next photo down the control cables come out straight from the outboard and enter the the boat through the starboard coaming area.
Both boats use extensions to put the motor further back off the transom. I don't know if this is a requirement for the binnacle controls to work well. I would prefer not to have an extension bracket. Did that 250 you pictured use an extension?
*Update - found that boat that you pictured and it does not appear to have the extension bracket. If you do this mod please take a lot of photos and then I'll do it too!
I too have a Honda engine on my 250WK (2004) #731 and was thinking of also mounting controls on the Edson column. I would like to install this year, but like you not sure exactly what to buy or how to go about the job. I would appreciate any info you come by, and will share anything as well on my end.
Hey Bob, we've vacationed at Ehrhardt's on Lake Wallenpaupack for the past 27 years. We love that lake! Been sailing our Phantom dinghy there for the past 10 years, and may move our C250 up there next year if we don't like the Delaware river. While shopping this winter I saw a listing for a C250 for sale on the lake - was that yours?
Nautiduck - Thanks for linking the past threads on this subject. I will make use of them once this project works its way to the top of my list.
For now I am having success docking by backing the boat all the way from the river through the fairway and into my slip. I stand in front of the wheel, facing backwards, and my wife works the shift/throttle according to my verbal commands. So far I have managed to get enough control by using the rudder without the need to turn the motor. Docking against the current is a cinch because the boat's speed is so fast relative to water but slow relative to the dock. Saturday was the first time I had to do it WITH the current (into a new slip without lines set up yet), and it is trickier because I need to come into the fairway perpendicular to the current very quickly (otherwise the boat crabs sideways), then when I make the 90 degree turn into the slip (going with the current) I am really flying so need to flip it into forward fairly quickly. Now that I have my spring lines properly adjusted and genny cleat installed on the roof we should be able to loop the line quickly and avoid hitting the dock head on.
I have not tried any of this in rough weather yet, nor have I had to single-hand, so those things might push the pedestal controls - and/or hard link - up to the top of my list.
Rick, Look me up when on Lk Walenpaupeck. My craft is moored near Tanglwood beach & Pinecrest condos #731 "Benina". Or send an email through the forum. As for the C250 for sale, I think I know the boat you are talking about. I believe "Lighthouse" marina may be the broker. Not sure if sold by now or not. Bob S.
