I am looking for a dousing sock (snuffer) for my gennaker. I am having trouble finding manufacturers. So far I have found ATN (pricey), ChuteScoop and a DYI kit from Sailrite (the kit is more expensive than the finished Chutescoop).

Does anyone here have experience with another manufacturer or know of one?

Thanks

Paul

Here are 2 more suppliers you could try:

Rolly Tasker spinnaker sock

Mauri Sails spinnaker sock

My asymmetrical spinnaker and sock were made by Sobstad Sails, but I don't know if they are still in business.

John;

Thanks for the other links. The Mauri Sails sock is made by ATN, so that is probably not an option. Rolly Tasker doesn't list one on their website, other than in referance. I have sent an inquiry to their Calif. rep on what they might offer.

I have an off-brand snuffer that came with a used assym. that I bought on Ebay. It's a fairly simple device, and it works very well. Based on my limited experience with a snuffer, I doubt that minor design variations from one manufacturer to another matter very much. If I was shopping for one, I'd look for the best price, new or used, and not be very concerned with who made it. I have bought two spinnakers on Ebay, and a few other items, and all were excellent values. You have to be careful, and have the patience to wait for the best bargains, but Ebay is a great resource for used merchandise.
