So this year the New York City boat show is taking place in mid January, (January 20-24, 2010) rather than Dec like last year and early Jan years back. It's at the Jacob Javits Center.
Anybody planning to attend? I got a free ticket and plan to go on Sat 23-Jan, but maybe Friday would be better.
Would be very cool if several local members got together with the admirals and made a day of it.

Bruce - don't know if you've been before, but it's mostly a powerboat show. There are all the general boating accessories, clothing and stuff, but not so much in the way of sailing...last year there was one Beneteau, w/o the mast up...
Hmmmm, I see. So when and where is the next boat show with sailboat stuff?
I've only been out of the water for about six weeks and I'm already starting to get cabin fever!
I see Strictly Sail Chicago at the end of January and the Miami (yes!) show around mid-Feb. There's a bunch of them on the Marine Source boat show page. http://marinesource.com/boat_shows/
I went to the Providence show a few years ago, but was disappointed as it was mostly for power as well.
Last year the Providence show completely sucked... a bunch of wakeboard boats with stero speakers on the overhead racks... no sail... practically no gear vendors. I'm 45 minutes away (and a "powerboater" now), so I may or may not wander over there. Anything might be better than nothing, but just barely... The New England Boat Show in Boston (2/20-28) will be better--many major sailboat and gear manufacturers will be there. I probably will be too.
Dave I think spending a few hours at Defender would be more fun than the Providence show. Now, the Bean-town (er, New England) boat show looks like it might be pretty good.
How far a walk is it from the Amtrak station to the Convention Center?
I keep thinking about going to the Chicago Strictly Sail show as the regionals are really powerboat oriented. I was driving through Annapolis the day of the show in October --on business -- so could not stop off at the show. Frustrating being so close and yet so far. If I ventured to Miami I might just sit by the pool and never get to the show, I figure with Chicago it's snow or boats!

I haven't been to a good "sail" boat show since I was a kid and am hoping to meet up with Paul Alcock for the Miami show in Feb. Of course I have to find the time and money to do this .................
