Can some of you folks that have installed a Simrad TP 10 on a WB 250 with a tiller please post a picture of the installation. I'm interested in finding out which mounting hardware works best. Thanks.

John, I have a Raymarine ST1000. The kit had all you need to install from what I can recall. Its fairly simple. My plug in contact is mounted on the port side, others put theirs on the starboard. I dont think there is much difference with the Simrad but other can confirm.
There is a pin that is attached to the tiller that mounts or attaches to the autopilot. I will try to go to boat this weekend for pics to post. But I believe if you do a seach, there are probably pics on our site. I found this video link to a autopilot in acton.

I got the measurements for installing a Simrad T10 from the web. It looks like I'll have to move where it mounts to the tiller back a couple of inches closer to the rudder than they specify. The video is a C25 (I think). The sides are flat all the way back. On a C250, the sides curve around at the back of the setees. Does anyone know if it just 'has' to be 18 inches from the rudder pintles????

Gotta admit tho, after watching the video, I am impressed.

I can give you a NO on that. But It should be close.
If you go shorter, the Simrad T10 will use more power to move the rudder. If you go longer the ""tiller throw" will not be as much. But it will still work just as well. I have a raytheon 2000 mounted more than 18" on my 250WK. and keeps the boat heading in the right direction just fine, in all but the heaviest of winds.

We have a Raymarine ST1000+ as well. The throw is a bit less than 18" on the starboard side and a bit more to port. I was going to figure out how to fix the discrepancy, but when I actually measured it I couldn't see trying to iron out less than 1/4" of difference.

I used an antenna mount with a bronze bushing epoxied into it to mount it on.

John,
This is the setup I had on Knotty Cat. It was A TP-10 which worked well for me.

Thanks, Tom. A picture is worth a thousand words. My boat is a 95, no catbird seats. I think I can still make it work. Did the hole in your tiller end up being 18 inches from the rudder pintles? I was thinking about mounting mine on the port side of the boat so that it wouldn't interfere with my engine access.

A couple inches either way is not going to make a big difference. If I recall correctly mine was a little less than 18". I would mount the TP-10 so that when the TP-10 is fully extended or retracted that tiller is almost at it limits but not there yet. You want to get it as close as possible to its stops so that the "Auto Tack" function on the TP-10 works properly. I would not want the TP-10 pushing or pulling the Tiller when its already over as far as it will go. Hope that makes sense.

I used Tom's idea to setup my TP-22 except I reversed the mount on the verticle stanchion so that the TP-22 pin goes in just forward and slightly port. I was able to get very close to the recomended dimensions. I got the TP-22 because at the time it was offered with the remote control at no additional cost. It works very well and you can sit in the catbird seat and contol the boat quite well although I usually don't sit when I am sailing, only when motoring.

I can see the benefit of the remote, it would have come in handy a few times.
