Steve, my 250 does not have shades. The ones that came with the boat are more along the lines of canvas material. So depending on the type of material, you might be able to toss in the washing machine and use the delicate cycle or just hand rinse and then hang dry, as your shades might be a softer or lighter material. I assume your talking about the pleated things that accordion over the windows. I don't like them. Somewhere on my "to do" list is replacing them with something else but it never seems to get to the top. If they get to the point that I need to clean them, I'll replace them.
I've got the pleated ones too but have never had to clean them. John, why don't you like them? They seem to do the job just fine. I guess they could be more colorful which would add to the cabin homeyness.
The admiral washed them in the bathtub with tepid water and a little Wisk. They hadn't been cleaned in 10 years. The washing did make them look much better.
