Has anyone actually completed this task?

I took the engine to the local dealer, and they said they couldn't get the tools to do the job.

Onlyine it looks like you have to pull all the guts out of the lower unit to pull the seal. I am more than a little hesitant to do that. Should I be afraid? Should I boldly go and yank the sucker?

According to the instructions I found you can make the tool required using some all-thread and ingenuity.

At the shop this will cost a little over $100. At home it will cost $1.00, if nothing goes wrong. I can't put a dollar value on the word 'if'.
