This is my third year with Gracie, 98 WB # 360. She has the original 135 jib which was not in the best shape when I bought her. There was some UV degradation, Apparently the "treatment" Catalina uses loses its effectiveness after a few years. Anyway, this season winter I took it to a local sail loft and had it cleaned and repaired but I see the need for a new jib in another year or so. Rather than add a heavy sunbrella strip I opted for a jib sock for now. The cost of repair, I found, is high and you can get a good price for a foreign made sail. (We're talking sails here so "good price" is, I realize, a relative term.) Has anyone bought a 135 roller furling jib recently and what should I expect to pay? Can anyone recommend a good source?
I just purchased a new jib from SailCare @ $900. They are located in Ford City,PA. They are good to work with. I also purchased sails from Ullman Sails in Ventura,CA. Also great to work with and very Knowledgeable of Catalina 250.
