Time to commence our search for a C-25 wing keel . . . what are the favorite sailboat classifieds these days? I'm in Pittsburgh - but will be willing most anywhere for the right boat/motor/trailer combination.
Anyone know if TrailRite made trailers through the wing keel era?
Just Google "Catalina 25 for sale" or "Catalina 250 for sale" (whichever you are wanting) and a list of sites will come up.
Also, we have a Trailrite for our 2000 C250 wing. I spoke to them about a year ago and they still make trailers for specific Catalina models. You'll get a better all around deal, I think, by locating a boat that already has a trailer.
It's exciting to be looking for a boat. We drove 2,000 miles to get ours. What an adventure. Good luck!
This site is a good place to start. Don't let the name scare you away, they have boats from all over the country -->> http://www.sailingtexas.com/
Hey OJ, You are definitely correct in wanting to find a wing keel Catalina 25. this statement in no way is biased by the fact that someday I'll actually get around to completing my refinishing project on my 89 wing and actually get it up for sale. I have been castigated before on this board for just talking about selling my wing, but I'll get to it. Really folks I will. Soon as I finish my engine work on my Ericson and my installation of a new cabin top winch and clutches, and getting back into shape, and doing spring yardwork..................................
OJ, I would try craigslist. That is how I found my Catalina. If you are not restricted to the Pittsburgh area I found a way to search all the cities at once.
We found our C25 on Craigslist locally last spring. I like browsing on www.yachtworld.com, they tie in to brokers around the country and have a healthy list of C25's. You can get pretty specific with the search, also.
We travelled to Torresen's in Michigan, and they had a number of boats to walk through, all priced quite reasonably. I would suggest that you go to a broker with mulitple C-25's (even if they aren't wings) and tour th eboats. You will start seeing things that are good ideas, and subtle differences between the model years and options, this may help in your decision, or give inspiration for mods to be done once you buy.
Oh, and the best place to buy a C-25 is right here in the forum's own classified section!!
