Does anyone know if there is any rule of thumb that speaks to which burgee should be flown above another? As an example- our Natl Assoc. burgee and one from our yacht club, and ...?

Jay, I believe your Yacht Club takes precedence and is flown above any Assn. burgee.

I was thinking that the same kind of "rules" would apply that apply to national/state/local flags on a single staff. The national flag is flown at the top, then the state flag then the local. Using that logic, the national association burgee would take precedence over any other.

I'm pretty sure there aren't any burgee police though.

John, You might do a Google search on that topic or check Chapmans.
I fly my US flag on the stern railing and have only our Assn. burgee to fly. So far, no dirty looks or tickets!

I wasn't clear. I fly the stars and strips from the stern. A courtesy flag, should I ever travel 50 miles to the north will fly from the spreader.

The point I was making was if you are on land and have only one flagpole, the national flag flies at the top, the state flag below it and a local flag below that. In the world of association burgees, I would apply the same protocol in the absence of any overriding rule. The national burgee at the top, then lesser groups, including IMO, local clubs, would be below that. None of which on the same line that the national ensign.
