Clam,

These are really nice mounts, including some rail mounts. You reminded me of the advice you gave half a year ago when I posted my homemade wooden disc attachment to hold my GPSmap76 onto the tiller

If things get a bit hectic... I don't think a GPS will last long on the tiller.
Way too much action around those parts.

Time will tell.

I've made sure to loop the GPS carrying cord around the tiller, so that the mainsheet whipping by in an accidental jibe can not flip the GPS into the deep blue sea.

Recently, I made good use of the GPS on the tiller, when I motored for a few hours in the mist and fog at night. To see the screen constantly during that time, I put red cellophane over a small LED flashlight that I then hung on a lanyard around my neck a few inches above the screen. The LED flashlight with 3 AAA batteries could stay on for hundreds of hours. That freed my hands for steering and keeping watch in the fog and I didn't have to touch the GPS the entire time, unless I zoomed in or out on the nautical chart.

I plan to add another mount for this GPS to the cabin bulkhead for other conditions, and Paul Zell showed me how he used velcro to do that.

These RAM mounts seem really useful to put your GPS or fishfinder wherever you want.
