The only other thing we can do is do a collective fund raiser and get Jim a carbon fiber mast, shave the hull to Cynthia Woods standards, go to all Spectra even for the lifelines, and toss out stuff like bulk heads.
As run down as that thing is - just the lines will send all of the SD boys home looking for TP. He already has an outboard!
I love my C25 and I have 2 kids in college right now. I bought the boat for $5K and probably have $10K into her. I just couldn't part with Indiscipline III right now.
I had a great sailing day today, went out with the 155 up. Out in the ocean I tightened everything as the wind came up, then rounded up anyhow. So I did a change down to the 110 at sea. After that I put in the flattening reef. With this set up the boat was just right. Together, we sailed about 4 hours in winds I'd guess around 20+. This was one of those 200 days per year when I love Mission Bay, and I love my C25.
I thought a lot about this today, I'll be racing all the All Catalina Fleet events this year. I am competitive in the All Catalina fleet. I'll probably stay away from the PHRF San Diego events except for a couple of the distance races. I really like ocean distance races, especially when there is a double handed division. I wish we had some kind of single handed events around here. I accept the fact that I will probably be dead last.
I don't think its all on the C25, I feel I have a lot to learn. I should be winning the start and should be sailing downwind better. I could have gotten the spinnaker up even if for a mile, gybed to the downwind mark. I need to do a better job "getting my head out of the boat" and covering the competition.
If I had some free $ I'd probably buy and Olsen 30, J-29, Hawkfarm, or something like that.
A mega races on our lake. The skipper just switched over to spin class last season. I know she had one helluva fast boat in white sail, but switching to flying sail pretty much killed her. I bet next year she figures things out and starts to hunt down the Olsen's.
Here is the boat to beat on our lake - reasonably priced, fast as snot, and easy to sail. No interior (just a big cave with a bunk), no head, and still a transom mounted rudder. But the price is decent if you really wanna race.
