Looks like this would make a great sailing cam.

Just might have to get one of these puppies. I had been pondering how to shoot sailing video without buying or fabricating a fancy waterproof box for my video camera.

http://www.goprocamera.com/

Seems like a pretty reasonable price... waterproof to 100'
Check out the windsurfing demo video.

Wide variety of mounting accessories available.

Looks nice.

I'd like a swinging mount for my camera that attaches to the stern rail. That kind of mount was used in the video posted here a while back that showed the Capri 25 broaching. The camera stayed upright through the whole disaster.

The other fun camera angle was shown in a posting from the waterline, using a remote video feed.

Lots of toys to get!!!

Have you seen the "kite cam" video on You Tube? Pretty amazing angle to watch your boat sail. Search "Dana 24".

The mounts can be pricier than the cameras.
I see they offer a little self contained camera for $108... don't give much in the way of specifications tho.

Thanks, Paul. Those are beautiful devices!

With all that nice design info, it will be a lot simpler making a pendulum mount for my camera. Mine will be made out of a 4" plastic clothesline pulley and some specially formed wood and hose clamps - maybe $10 (???) Flat plastic lens cover and plastic bag waterproofing - 10 cents.

I'll let you know if it happens.

I would think you could make something similar with epoxied plywood.

How about one of those self leveling drink holders????

Yeah, those drink holders show how simple a self-leveling camera mount could be. Here's the link you meant for the last one
