Last night we overnighted on the lake. With the main lashed to theboom and the main sheet loose so the boom could swing out of the way, I started to hear and feel a strong vibration. It was so pronounced that I thought it was mechanical, but I had powered off everyuthing. I tracked it down to the mast, The whole thing was vibrating in the wind and the vibration was transmitted to the boom. Any ideas on how to stop it or has anyone else had this happen. I am suspecting the airfoil spreader brackerts, but that is only a guess and then maybe the shrouds.
Dan, are you suggesting that it's wind causing the vibrations?
If so, you might simply wrap a halyard around the mast a couple of turns to break up any wind harmonics.
As you were on a lake, can we assume that you were not at anchor in a strong current? If you were then it could be keel line vibrations, we have experienced that.
Do you have all the rubber shroud keepers in place? The mast is a long tube and would be a pretty base organ pipe.
