I have a nice 1993 Capri 26 I'm looking to trade even-ish for a wing keel 1987 I guess or newer Catalina 25. The Capri will not fit in my storage building. The Capri has the factory installed Edson wheel steering and is also the wing keel. The trailrite trailer is basically the same for the two boats so we could both keep our own trailers and outboards. I'm located in Michigan.

I have become interested in the Capri "25" (didn't know they made a 26'). Wheel steering is also nice (I think, although people tell me that the tiller gives a better feel for the boat). But alas mine is an '84 fin keel (didn't know the 25 came with a wing keel) and has a tiller, and I'm in Rhode Island. However, can you shoot me some pics of your boat to sate my curiousity? Thanks.

Here's my boat, sorry I didnt copy all of the code. Good luck with yours, but why are you wanting to trade it for a Catalina 25?

Sam... Yes, Catalina switched from the swing to the wing in the later 80s--the wing draws only a few more inches than the raised swing, so it's just as trailerable but eliminates the maintenance issues.

The Capri 26 is very different from the Capri 25... The CP-25 is designed as a one-design racer, not unlike the J-24. The CP-26 is a cruiser--a foot and a half beamier and maybe a K heavier than the Catalina 25. Of course, it can race PHRF like anything else, and sails very well, but it wasn't intended for one-design fleets like the CP-25.

Hello Jeff,
I've sent you a couple of emails about this. If you ever decide to trade or sell your Capri I'd be interested.
Thanks,
Marty

I have a sweet 1987 Catalina wing keel with new barrier coat and vc-17 bottom paint. The interior has some custome features that make it a fantastic boat. This is a great boat. If you are still interested in a trade we can share pictures.

I have a 1989 SR/WK with the factory inboard diesel. I will be in Holland this weekend with the boat - the last cruise of the season for Lake Michigan.

Oops! Didn't mean to post that!

Anyone interested in selling a Capri 26? I'm searching! I live in Nelson, BC on the Kootenay Lake.

Hey Jeff - Just curious, what vehicle do you tow the C26/trailer with?

<hr height="1" noshade id="quote"></font id="quote"></blockquote id="quote">When I had one, I used a late 70's F250 (460cid/manual) and later an early 80's Dodge 2500 (360cid/auto). I typically only hauled it from the house to the marina, about 10-12mi, at an elevation of 5700'. Avoided the mountains.

If I were going to haul one farther than that, I'd want something a little newer than what I was running at the time; however overall a 3/4 ton truck does the job nicely. You could get away with a 1/2 ton for short hauls if you're willing to push the envelope.

My $0.02.
Jim
