I have a 2004 C250WB and would like to have a remote shift lever and throttle lever on my boat. I have a friend who has that on his 89, 25' Montego and it works so slick. He never turns his motor, just uses his tiller to steer. And he gets in and out of his slip with so much less hassle than I do with my 9.9 Honda outboard, steering and manuvering with the motor handle that it makes me green with envy. Has anybody put these remotes on their C250WB? I would like to know if it's possible (reasonably so)? Roger
Unfortunately I can't give you a report on how well it works on the water. Due to circumstances mostly beyond our control, we still haven't splashed our boat for the season.
You need this and the right length cables - I think 11 feet. Total cost will be around $450 with quality cables.
This project has been done and posted before. Perhaps one of the mod-ers will post their photos. The one I liked had the cables do a broad circle over the OB and then enter the boat through the transom to the port of the OB well and below the sole. From there you can go to the pedestal base and on up.
A very doable mod. Your outboard must be equiped to allow remote control. If you do not do the work yourself it will set you back between $1k to $1.2k. Pricey for sure.
I have my controls to the pedestal and it certainly makes life simplier.
If you can do the work yourself it certainly is a significant cost savings.
I have a 1998 WB with pedestal steering and motor remotes. I love it. The pictures below are of the Nissan 8hp which I just changed out for a Tohatsu 9.8hp. It turns farther than the Nissan in the opening without the tiller.
the main difference between the old and new motor is that the new one has the remote attachment coming out of the front of the motor instead of the side. It makes for a larger turn radius. I either turn the motor by hand when leaving or coming into dock or I will use the ezsteer set up
I have the same Nissan 9.8 setup. I replaced the cables last week. After 7 years, the motor ends were bent, cracked and rusted from salt environment and raising the motor and squashing the cables against the sole. The original install used 14' cables, I found an 11' set on eBay. They are Umax Mach 0. They work fine and are less of a pain flopping around than the larger looped 14's. I made a new cable holder a few years ago that pivots and is shorter than stock. It allows the motor to turn further, and doesn't scratch the boat as much. Sorry no pics for awhile.

It looks like a nice setup. Thanks - Roger <hr height="1" noshade id="quote"></font id="quote"></blockquote id="quote">

I got it from EzSteer at ezsteer.com. they connected me to Cabellas that sold it.
