About a year ago I bought a Nicro Day/Night Plus 4" solar vent (stainless, of course). It petered out recently and I discovered that it only ran on solar, even a new battery had no impact. Called Nicro and explaned the situation. They are sending me a brand new unit and asked that when I install the new one that I send back the broken one so they can diagnose the issue.

There was a Topic on this forum when I bought mine because WM was having a great sale on the units. You may want to check yours to see if it is operating at night. With mine it was obvious. After I installed the new battery it seemed to work. Then I stood up and my shadow went over the solar array. It stopped. Moved to let the sun hit the array and it started up again.

I can only guess that some piece of electronics that deals with the battery simply gave out. Regardless, Nicro stood by the product and is fixing it. Thought I should pass that on.

We cannot direct the winds but we can adjust our sails.

Good idea for a test, and a great story about Nicro. Mine has been running 24/7 for over a year, summer and winter, doing a great job of keeping the cabin dry and odor-free.

Those are the kind that the boat brokers refer to as a passive vent.....

They refer incorrectly.
