Hoping someone can help me on how to keep the two mooring lines from twisting around each other and around the chain under the ball. My mooring ball is meant to have them attach below the ball. I slipped to the pool floats over the lines and it seemed to help a little, however the remaining line seems to still twist up.
my lines are on top of the ball , but without a swivel they will wrap up .
I also had the local shop make a set of lines with 4' of pvc hose over them . they got under the ball one time and the fish eggs did a number on them with out it .
I attach a galvanized anchor shackle to the top swivel (generally there are two) under the mooring ball, and attach a snubber line from the anchor shackle to my bow eye. I attach secondary docking lines from the top of the ball to my bow deck cleats - I keep these just loose enough for the lines not to have any tension on them but not too loose because if they dangle too much they get tangled. (no dangle no tangle)
In three years on a very windy lake with a lot of wave action (read PWC riders who think mooring bouys are slalom buoys) I have not had a problem. I think the key is using the swivel under the mooring ball.
Easy fix, twist the mooring lines 3-4 times together before attaching to the cleats. This eliminates the space between the lines that ends up going over the mooring on slack wind.
