We were thinking of moving Sea Major up to Port Clinton for the second half of the summer. Does anybody have any experience with Port Clinton marinas and/or good ramps that they would like to recommend?

I'm on the other side of the Sandusky Bay at Sandusky Harbor Marina which is owned by Marinas International. I'm happy there. They own a marina in Port Clinton as well. I've not been there but if it's as nice as Sandusky Harbor, youll be happy there. Check them out.

The yacht club is beutiful - not sure if they have any slips available. The River is very shallow.

Check out clubs on Catwba.

I'm at Brands, Just up from the drawbridge, and I have been very happy with them. The price is pretty reasonable because it is just a marina - no swimming pool or tennis courts. The drawbridge opens every half hour and the river is plenty deep enough. I've got to go, but I'll try to get back to the forum later tonight.

I am in a 30' slip, It isn't much more expensive and it is much easier to get in and out or position the boat and access from the longer finger is better. If you are looking for more amenities, Lakeview Marina is close by and has a pool and direct lake access. Prices go up rapidly when you add the frilly touches. Clinton Yacht Club is expensive to join, has a waiting list, and I'm not the type.

Catawba Island has a number facilities around East Harbor. They traverse the scale from simple marinas to pools, clubrooms, wireless internet and fancy names. When I was shopping last year, prices went from the low teens to the mid fours. I think brands was around 1600 for the season several places with pools were in the 2300 to 2700 range. Check marinas.com for an overview and links or Port Clinton Chamber for listings and links. You can also email me for specifics.

We used to be a a little place in the Sandusky Bay called the Dock of the Bay Marina. Awesome facilities, nice little reading-room/library area. Great docks, great Price. They are smack dab in the middle of downtown and a 20 second walk to the Sandusky West marine.

Back in the day they were about 1500 a season (1997-1998). I think a guy named Harry still runs the place.

they are well worth it!
