That cannot be accurate. I bought one a year ago from Catalina for $75. They must have misinterpreted what you want. Others, including Garhauer, also make them but Catalina surely still has them. I ended up returning mine but here is a photo.
Sounds like Catalina could sell a 6" deep, fixed, transom extension bracket, if somebody could design one that is easy to manufacture and safe to use. Depth doesn't seem to be the issue, only closeness to other items on the transom. Sorry, I'm not an engineer.
Decided NOT to install the extension bracket; too damn heavy! As to reaching out and down for the tilt lever to lower the engine, I don't; got a mod: a line attached to it that's attached to the catbird seat. I'll post a pic.
Mike, I have one of the [url="http://www.boatersworld.com/product/366480267.htm"]Garelick stationary brackets[/url] that willy mentioned previously. I assembled it but never installed it on the boat. I took a grinder to my old 8 hp Nissan instead and now I can turn it. If you want the bracket, I'll give it to you for just the cost of shipping from Maryland.
