I have been searching the archived threads using several different search strings, but need help. I am getting close to putting my handrails back on the cabin and have to remove the old bedding. Is there a product you recommend that makes the job easier? I would think that something like acetone or paint thinner is NOT the way to go, but maybe I am wrong. What should I use?

In my opinion 75% of the earth is water for a reason. That's why I sail.

I've always used Goof Off to remove caulk, adhesives, and the like.

Scraping, then try Goof Off or similar product (probably won't do much if it is polysufide, can help with very old silicone, helps with standard caulks), Scotch Bright pad with Goof Off, dry Scotch Brite pad, careful sanding in decreasing order of desirability. Buy a new boat.

Well new boat is on the list, but is about 2 years away. Unless I just give in to my desire and buy one. We really like the C270 for what we want... However, I do like the Dry Scotch idea...oops forgot to read the next line. I will try the Goof Off and see how it goes.

I can't rightly remember, but something in my head says to be careful with the green Scotch Brite pads and Goof Off, since that solvent may dissolve the pads leaving a green residue. You might want to test this theory...

In a pinch, WD-40 works on many kinds of adhesives. I've also used acetone, but have read that it's a little rough on gelcoat. (I've never seen evidence of that.)

All earlier suggestions work to various degrees. If still having problems, Life Caulk makes a product called "Release". It comes in a small (1 oz.) bottle.

Thanks Gerry ... I will use the goof off first and then try the "Release" if I have problems.
