OK. The season is still more than six weeks away, but close enough to start thinking about racing. So, time to think about things you don't want to hear at the mark.
Duck.......Big duck!......GOOSE!!
Or
Objects in the jib window are closer than they appear
Actually heard at about 3 am on a long distance race...
Skipper from cockpit on watch to navigator down below off watch:
We will be rounding in about 30 seconds, What's the heading to the next mark?
Navigator: Don't know - the GPS is toast, SI's are soaked and your @#$ wiped the grease pencil off the deck. Do what we always do, follow the leader until the Backup GPS acquires.
Skipper - We are the leader
Also heard:
Jimmy dive in and cut the tetrahedron off our rudder.

2 kts of breeze no current and a mark's anchor line caught on the rudder and jimmy probably could have swam laps around the boat
Skipper 1: (Smugly) "I believe this is where you have to give me room at the mark" Skipper 2: (Non-chalent) "I believe my boat is bigger, faster, and will push yours out of the way." the rest followed muttered under his breath "With anyone else I would regret the penalty, but for you, its worth it."
The night before, Skipper 1 (from another club) was bragging about how he was going to kill everyone on the course and so on. It was nice to be on one of the boats that beat him. Of course after the race he was full of reasons things didn't work out, and all the things he could have protested. Strangely our convo at the mark never came up.
The scary thing is, Skipper 2 was dead serious about ramming him if buddy didn't straighten up.
