After a great day of sailing yesterday, I noticed while motoring in, the outhaul pin was falling out on one side. One of the 2 clips were missing. I am assuming the end of the outhaul line came off. How can I reconnect it all. Will I have to remove the aft boom cap- it that held in by screws to remove or just pop off. Then how do I hold the line in place to slide in the pin. Will I need some long wire to align? It was late and dark upon arriving at my slip so I didn't have a real good chance to look at it. Thanks. Steve A

There are sheet metal screws that hold the boom ends in place. Once they are removed, you can take off the end caps on the boom and have access to the inside. I check my screws every month or so - mine have tended to work loose over time. The screws are not there to carry any loads, just to keep the ends on the boom when not under load by the sails.
I haven't had to work on the outhaul yet, but I was in there when rerouting reef lines.
