Ace Hardware had wireless weather stations for $69.00. This includes; temp, wind speed, wind direction, and forcast. I put one on my boat a couple years ago, and it works great. It beats paying a couple hundred for the ones in the marine catalogs
I think I'd want the barometer. The Oregon Scientific one offers three temp sensors. I'd mount one inside, one outside and one below the water line - let you know if that morning dip will be brisk or not!
I have almost the same exact thing in my home (sensor is outside). It also has an atomic clock which is a nice thing to have except ...it would not be easy to read from the cockpit area. I have one of the Weems & Platt Atomic dial clocks mounted on my bulkhead and that can be seen from the cockpit except at night-time. Only issue I have with it is the battery seems to last about 5-9 months max and that is probably because of the large hands on the clock. The one in the photo above, probably since it all digital, the battery lasts at least a year....as is the case with my home unit.
Dave, I mounted the sensors to the rear of the mast cap, ran the telephone line inside the mast and out at the bottom with the wires from the navigation lites. I mounted the sending unit right where the wires come out of the mast. The signal easily makes it to the cockpit or inside the cabin.
