I'm thinkng of mounting a radio CD player in the cabin under the starboard cockpit seat. Any idea how thick that are is so I can screw the mounting box there?
Can't say. I put mine in the galley bulkhead under the port seat. The back of the radio extends into the sail locker area. I put it there partly because it makes the radio easy to get to, and it's very close to the electrical panel. Installation was fairly easy, almost all of the wiring is hidden (only some of the speaker wire is exposed), and there was no extra mounting box to buy. David
I can only speak for my boat which is a 78 C25. There are two layers of fiberglass there, each about a 1/4" thick with about a 1/8-1/4" gap between them which you can use to snake wires. So you can use wood or sheet metal screws that will penetrate the first layer about 1/4" - 3/8". The good thing about the gap is you will be able to tell once you have drilled through the first layer and can stop before you drill through the second. You need to update your signature. I know more about your M/C then your boat.
