Hi Forum!

Over the weekend I was "pimping out" my boat. I opened my front hatch and used the "adjuster" (I think that's what it's called or the "hatch stay"?) -- It wouldn't keep the hatch open. I tightened it up fully but the hatch still slid shut.

Of course I tightened even more and the plasic screw inside the dog knob just sheared off.

I can't seem to find a replacement. I found this:

http://www.catalinadirect.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=product.display&Product_ID=15

but it's not similar to the orignial which has a rounded piston type of adjuster. Has anyone had a similar fix? What to do...Fix one thing another breaks...

The one in the CD catalog is a lot like what is on my 84 boat. It works very well. You'll like the swap-out.

Frank & Dave, play nice now, hehe!

I'm not worried about the 25 bucks, it's that I think the holes won't line up --and it will turn into an epoxy job plus redrilling and rebedding. A retrofit would be my hope.

Bedding isn't an issue for interior hardware. As for the old holes, buy a little tube of gelcoat patch at WM (or wherever) and dab it into the holes.

Boy, that's no upgrade, it's a cheap replacement. I don't like it at all!
I think I'd try to repair the broken one.

Dave R-- I agree exactly but you put it in words! I'll either destroy the plastic clamp this weekend or I'll have a fix.
