To Russ and all who responded, Thanks for the info. The idea of the drawer under the table is a great one. I tend to travel heavy so any additional storage is a welcome addition. I intend to use some version of what you did and I'll probably make some adjustments as I go. Thanks again.

Got it. I guess Catalina might sell those. They don't come on the WK versions.
Following the many solutions and variations to downsizing the cabin table has been extremely interesting and enjoyable to see how each tackles it.
I've documented mine with drawings and it uses the water ballast stock legs so it may be of some value. It might show how the legs can be used with another table design.
Arlyn, Thanks for the drawings. I might have gotten to the same place but the trial and error route would have been exasperating. This should cut the time needed for the project considerably. My next job was to have been winches on the coaming but I need to wait until the end of March for the weather to break a little. I can get a good jump on this project in the garage between now and then. Joe

Since following this thread, I/we have decided not to create a convertible table/V berth extension. With one of us on each side, legs extending aft, we sleep okay for a couple of nights. BTW, gang, what happened to the link on the Format line that enabled us to edit our posts? Now we have to be sure they're "carved in bamboo", to quote the Chinese proverb ("Never say anything that isn't worthy of being carved in bamboo") What a silent world we'd have

Once I finish cleaning and waxing her and getting her in the water (2 weeks!) I'll take some more pictures with the "mood" LED lighting, new cushions, paraffin lamps, teak table, digital TV, satellite radio, and (oh by the way) new back stay.
I enjoy the boat very much and plan on staying on her as much as I can over the summer. The admiral will only stay if it is clean, comfortable, and warm. We enjoy sailing and we race every monday night. Life is good.
Randy: What is the thickness of the plywood you used under the table to attach the metal base? Is it just glued onto the AFI table? Thanks in advance for the information.
Danny, I think it is 3/4" plywood. I will check later this week. The plywood is glued (Gorilla Glue) to the table. I put the table face down, put the glue and plywood on it and then a weight on the whole pile while the glue dried. You can see a bit of it crept out along the edges.

Tom deleted the site when he sold his 250. Bummer because it had a lot of good info and mods.
