Hi all, thank you for the feed back to my last question. I have now replaced the old mast plate with the new ones from CD, it's great. However,as I make changes and old blocks are removed, holes are (obviously) left where the different improvements were made by the PO. Does anyone have a suggestion as of how to camoflage these screw holes in the deck? My C25 is from -83 ...1983 I think. Frants
I think that is overkill but it depends on the standards you are restoring to. Marine Tex white epoxy works great, the job is done in 30 minutes (all the holes at once), and the repaired holes are mostly invisible.
If your boat is like mine was, the holes are in the non-skid, correct? I found the very best way to fill holes in the gelcoat is to mix the appropriate colored gelcoat 50/50 with Duratec High Gloss Additive and thicken that with fumed silica (Cabosil)after adding the catalyst. The fairing putty it makes is so smooth the holes will disappear perfectly. If it is in the gelcoat, you can texture it a little as it begins to gel and the repairs will be invisible. Or, you could just put some screws and nuts in the holes, with sealant of course. The problem with using epoxy is that it will yellow in the sun over time. unless you cover it with something.
