I am in the process of tuning the mast on my Catalina 25.
I need to know how much tension the forestay, backstay, and shrouds should have. The backstay has the tension adjustment system.
I need help for this is my first time.

Thanks,
Greg

to start: 1" of deflection on all standing rigging.

After you've got everything snug and the mast is straight. Sail it for a while until you are comfortable with fine tuning, such as raked mast, or soft forestay/backstay.

I've had mine for 3 years and keep shrouds tight, and leave forestay and backstay loose.
It is generally thought here on the forum that a loos gauge is not necesary.

I always use a Loos but I am absolutely confidant that I could tune a good safe rig without one. The loos is for uniformity but the pluck sets the tension. I run a tight rig, uppers 23, forward lowers 18, and aft lowers finger tight. My backstay adjuster is primarily to tension the forestay, now that I have a furler I start with the forestay fairly tight so my adjuster doesn't do much. I do not use the loos on the forestay nor Backstay.
