When I was swimming in the lake this past weekend I noticed that there are some cracks in my rudder. Not sure if it is just the gel goat or stress cracks. I have a picture if it but I forgot how to up load a image. I will search the forums and post a picture.
When I had my 2003 C250 I had cracks in the rudder like that twice. It had a zigzag crack between the two pintles. The first time I sent it off to Catalina where they repaired it under warranty. It still cost me $50 shipping. The second time I fixed it myself. I drilled holes along the crack every 3 inches or so. It seemed like it was a void and thin glassing on one side by the factory. I mixed epoxy and Cabo-sil to fill in the crack and reglassed the area. Sanded it fair and bottom painted it. It didn't crack after that. I upgraded to a C36 tow years ago so I don't know if it is still cracking on the port side of the rudder anymore. Several other C250 owners around hull number 690 also had trouble like that. Maybe the port side rudder laminator was on vacation during that time???
