If it is the same as mine, there is a flexible bit that you push up on, on the bottom of the light. The plastic cover slips off once you have push up on this piece.
Bob, If your boat is newer than a 98 then it should have a Hella bow light with the snap removal cover Kevin mentions and a 12V / 10W SV8.5 bulb. If the boat is older it has a different light. You can access the info regarding it from the Catalina Direct Websight if you go to their store page, then search page, then enter bow light. In either case, once you remove the cover the bulb info is on the bulb somewhere. If you are an old fart like me you may need a magnifying glass to read it though... Willy
Bob, Please see my post in this forum about "FAST PARTS". You might have Aqua Signal Nav Lights but you should have seen two phillips screws to remove the housing/lens assembly.
I need to replace my stern light bulb and have been researching the manufacturer and sources of parts.
I don't know what hull numbers that Catalina kept using these Aqua Signal lights but mine is #206 from 1996 and yours might be in the same grouping.
Then maybe you have the new one. If you push on the bottom (the black plastic) of the light assembly in the center, does it move a little bit upward? If so, trying doing that and then pulling the bottom of the light straight forward (along the centerline of the boat). It should sortof hinge upward and come off.
Unless you have some completely different light assembly.
You could take off the four screws, but you probably won't have a huge about amount of slack in the cable...
Maybe a screwdriver and some prying in various spots will give you some ideas?
Kevin I think that will try to pry it off as you described. My light does not have the two screws in the front. I will try to avoid John's Method, but I suppose it was probably unplanned.
The guy who hit my boat with his O'Day 28 knew how to take it off! Found the same kind at West Marine--has a plastic button on that bottom to access the bulb.
