After getting a great deal on a used Spinnaker (thanks Paul), I stared looking into ways to fly it. However $80+ for a piece of plastic and strap to attach it to the furler seemed quite high. So I decided to try and make something that would work myself, so far I have about $9 tied up in my first attempt.
I used a 4" PVC coupler and cut a 4" opening so it would fit on the furled sail. Cut a few slots to run the 1" webbing through. I had a couple snap hooks so I got the wife to sew the webbing on the hooks. I have to run a down haul and I "think" I'll be ready.
Okay Oscar I get your point, after all I don't want Davy Jones after me. Maybe I shouldn't be so obvious. Perhaps I'll rename it to something like the "AMCE Spinnaker System" (A.S.S.).
Tom, That is a nice A.S.S you have there. If it proves to be too fragile, get your canvas lady to make you a fabric one. My CD spin came with a fabric tacker but found out the damn thing does not float!
I now secure the it to the loop on top of my bow roller. It is strong enough and is outside everything on the boat.
