Just now, watching the pre-game show for the NBA finals...Spurs at Cleveland, just before going to a commercial, they scanned the local waters and lo and behold, there were sailboats everywhere.

Nope - nothing special tonight. It was a nice night for a sail. When you have to kill over 50 % of your season to the weather you get out every chance you can. Personally I like it now right at dusk. We had 80+ degrees today and the water is just about warm enough that a 12-18 kt offshore will be kicking up if it hasn't already.
There is a strong possiblity they shot that footage yesterdays during the club races. 3 clubs within 5 -10 miles have club racing every Wed. Especially because it was almost dark when the game started.

Just saw a boat sail by with about 3 minutes to go in the first. It looks like no offshore. The water must still be a bit too cold - give it till next Monday.
I just love it when they show a slo-mo of Parker or somebody else taking three steps on a drive, as if it were a highlight... the NBA definition of "Let 'em play"--anything goes as long as you eventually shoot it. (Shaq is the best--knocks three people down as he takes four steps, plants both feet, and slams.)
Most (not all) of the drives I've seen have been the standard allowed steps. More so than back in the Jordan days. The mugging by the defense is what used to get me....but then I realized that these guys are so tall that if they couldn't rape them in the middle of the key they'd never stop them.
They let both sides get away with it though so it is at least even.
"...standard allowed steps" followed by planting both feet for a better lift-off. Not allowed (except in the NBA, where anything it takes to jam is OK).
Then there's "James double-dribbles, puts up a three, hits the shot-clock..." (Of course, nobody including the announcer actually calls the double-dribble when he muffs the pass, picks it up, and starts dribbling. That's not "allowed" either.)
See, you got me to watch my first and last playoff game, or part of one. Think I'll switch to the Bowling Channel.
I take great pride in the fact that the last basketball game I watched was when the Bulls won their first championship. Dribble, shoot, foul, delay, make foul shot, inbound ball, dribble, shoot, foul, delay, make foul shot...over and over and over and over. Yuck...move the basket to 12 feet, move back the 3 point line and make tackling legal. Well maybe not that last part.
College basketball and professional basketball are two completely different games. The NBA has evolved into And1 street ball garbage...sure it's full of mystifying feats of acrobatic razzle dazzle but it's not basketball...it's something else.
