I've been sailing "Gracie", my '98 250 WB # 360, for a little over two weeks now and I'm pretty happy with her. A few questions however:
1.My deck light and anchor light do not work. I've yet to check all the connections but I assume it's just bulbs as all the others work fine. To minimize the number of times I need to go up the mast can anyone tell me what bulbs will be needed?

2.In order to make her more single-handed friendly I'm thinking of putting a cam-cleat on each side of the cockpit, on the coaming just above each of the little storage cut-outs. Has anyone else done this and are you happy with where you placed them?

3.Does anyone happen to know the volume of water ballast tank. (In either gallons or pounds)?

Don't assume it is the bulb. Use a 12V tester at the deck connection to see if it is a connector issue. They don't last too many seasons in my experience.

Presuming that they are the same lights as mine (one year earlier), the anchor light is an Aqua Signal series 25 "dimpled festoon".

As far as the deck light (the one that points down), it's another type of bulb entirely, and I don't have a part number for it, maybe someone else does. I know it's a bayonet type of bulb, but beyond that, dunno. If it's the steaming light (same fixture, 135° bulb, above the deck light), it's the same as the anchor light.

I think the WB takes on about 1200 lbs of water, or about 150 gallons (@ 8lbs/gallon). I've got a wing keel so don't take that to the bank.

If you want to go with LED lights, here's a good place to start: Dr. LED. You just need a lot more $$

Thanks for the connector suggestion. It is in a bad spot for getting kicked or stepped on. There were some wiring changes made by the p/o behind the panel in the cabin and the voltmeter (after market addition I think) had been totally doscinnected. I fixed that and its fine now.
The steaming light works well but the deck light in the same fixture does not which is why I suspected the bulb

Welcome aboard. I have had 1998 WB #370 "Papas Boat II" since 1998 and love it. David is correct, the ballast holds approx 1200#s. There is excellent info in the owners manual here in the forum including weights and stats.

My lights are Hella and Catalina uses both vendors. Check your lights to see what brand they are. By the way, even though the steaming and deck seem to be in the same fixture they use seperate wires. If your lights are Hella I can find the model # for the deck light bulb.

Why not bring the mast down to you?

See my pic in the topic Single Handed Dream'n on 9-21-06. If you have wheel steering, I think it's one of the best mods you can make.

528,
I checked out the pictures of your cam cleats. I was actually thinking of locating them a foot or two forward of where you did, just above the storage cubbies. Now you have me wondering which would be the better location. I also thought, at least initially, that additional winches just forward of the cleats would be a good idea, maybe even self-tailers ....UNTIL I SAW THE PRICE TAG! YIKES!!
You're right. There's not so much tension on the jib sheets anyway so I'll go with the cleats only at least for now. I have tiller steering by the way.

Thanks for your response.
Joe

Joe, a couple reasons for that location. The lines are out of the way of everything and everybody. The cleats, ditto. I wanted to use the seats as a mounting for the blocks and with wheel steering, I can run the boat from the wheel once the main is set. I don't know if this setup would be a benefit as much with a tiller since I haven't used that configuration.

I have cam cleats located in just the position you mentioned on HuBeStu, and have found single handing quite easy. Set the main, and then tacking is an easy operation. As for the lights, I had the same problem. Replaced both bulbs, and the conector. 50% sucess. The deck light works, but not the anchor. Not sure what to do next.

I repaired my mast electric connector where the rubber was torn off and the wires exposed. I took all the rubber out, reconnected the wires correctly and poured fiberglass resin (premixed with hardener) inside the connector. Excellent result and I think I fixed my problem for a long long time.
