I just read an old thread on Honda outboards that stated that the Honda 8hp outboard caused the boat to list to stbd slightly. I'm in the process of buying a new 8hp Honda but may change my mind if this listing problem is "real" problem. Has anyone else out there experienced any listing with this motor?

John,
I believe the only "real" list problem was with the early models (1970s) which would list to port. I have a 9.9 four-stroke on my 1981 C25 with no issues.
What you read was probably do to lopsided storage in reality.

My '82 sits level with a mid '80's Honda 7.5, two batteries, and a full freshwater holding tank (about 17 gals.) all on the starboard side.

I have a 1983 Tall rig fin keel and as you can see by the picture I have no list to Stbd. In the pic water tank is full and on Stbd. Honda 8hp is on Stbd. My boat is on the right. NOETA is on the left / standard rig with Honda 10 on port side.<img src="http://im1.shutterfly.com/procserv/47b2d823b3127cce9e4e988f98170000001410" border=0>

No apparent list with our 108# Honda 8 mounted even wider to starboard than with the original bracket.

Douglas: They say a picture is worth a thousand words and your picture says it best. Thanks for taking the time to post the photo. I'll be swinging by the marina this weekend to pick up my new motor.

Hmmmm, if "a picture is worth a thousand words," then what's a prototype worth ? ? ?
