The sheaves for the internal jib/main halyards on the mast have deteriorated. Should I just swap them out or should I drill out the rivets, replace the delrin plastic and rivet using SS rivets?

Which sheaves are those - masthead or exit block? Exit blocks - I'd just pick up some new ones and not go through the trouble of finding the right sheaves and drilling the rivets out, etc.

I would not recommend drilling on the masthead. You only have one set of holes for the pins. (I have even seen people who silicone the SS cotter pins in place to limit pin rotation.) Remove the cotter pins and use a punch to tap (gently) the pins out. Replace with new sheaves and lubricated pins.

If you are concerned about mast exit blocks, drill out the rivets and replace the whole exit block assembly as John suggests.

Just pull out the pins. It is MUCH easier w/ the mast down however!
