April is here and my "winter to-do" list has been untouched. The GF bought a house late fall and all my time and $$$$ has gone into house projects. But, now that the weather will be turning nice again, and starting to feel that little twinge that makes me want to go check things out. On the immediate list: -New batteries -New charger -Outboard overhaul
I started my list last week and ordered a new part this week (LED anchor light). Yesterday it started snowing - 5" in the yard this morning, and this afternoon a blizzard started. We're expecting an additonal 10-18" over the next 24 hours. my list isnow back in the desk drawer for another week or two.
My launch date in Chicago is set for April 21st. It was in the 60's yesterday and today is in the upper 20's. Waves in Lake Michigan a few miles off shore are 12-16 feet today!
I am still waiting to do the strip, repair and new bottom job....... I hope the weather changes quicky. Every day it is cold it is pushing my splash date back by two.
Monday is the day for me. It is projected to be 70 with 10-11 mph winds. My son and nephew will be going out with me and the Admiral staying home watching the dogs. Most of my projects are small this year. -Adding a two burner butane stove to the cutting board top in the galley. -Adding a queen size aerobed setup in the main cabin. -Adding foam waterline insulation to the swim ladder steps -Refinishing the two handrails. (Did the other teak last year) -Adding cabin fans for ventilation -Adding pneumatic lifts to the poptop -Installing a compass -Replacing the old fuse panel with the newer model -Replacing the cockpit speaker covers with ones that are flush -New cockpit cushions -Installing new furler blocks and ronstan ratchet block -Installing furler line cleat -Buying and installing a barometer and clock on the cabin bulkhead
....crap, how did this list get so long... ....oh almost forgot...
-Front hatch screen -New Main sail -Replace old cabin lights
Sailing is an amazing sport, sailors are sailors are sailors. I have a friend who is drop dead gorgeous, real runway material, but she is a sailor. She came over Sunday and washed the hull, painted my bottom, and applied vert-glass to the topsides. All while I diddled with my mast lights. She and another sailor made up my crack launching crew last year as well. He has a Starwind 223 and she has a Hunter 25.5. This Saturday we will launch his boat and next Saturday we will launch the other two, ain't life great!

Unfortunatly with all the warm weather and no flooding like last year I've been way to busy sailing this winter to have anyone paint my bottom or even diddle with my mast lights .
