Has anyone installed an SE-400 solar battery charger? It's sold at WM for around 100 bucks. Here are its specs:

Sunsei Solar Charger SE-400 Protects against natural battery discharge and electronic drain in medium-sized boats, RVs, trucks and tractors.
Provides immediate trickle-charge when exposed to daylight, even on cloudy days
Patent-pending touch-action indicator lets you know your panel is charging
Plug’n’Play® for quick connections & instant expansion
Cigarette lighter adaptor, battery clamps, terminal rings and connector wires included
Connect multiple panels in seconds without tools or rewiring
SE-400 Information
Model SE-400 Power 400mA, 15V (6W) Dimensions 37.5 cm x 36 cm x 2.6 cm Weight 3.3 lbs / 1.5 kg

I would mount it on the stern fuel tank compartment lid and run the wires down through its base to the 12 V battery.
I'm currently using a GUEST Battery Pal 3 AMP for trickle charging.
With the solar panel I wouldn't need to use a 110 extension cord in my slip. (My 250 doesn't have a shore power connection.)

Frank, I have looked at that charger too and will be interested in the responses. There is a very nice rail mount for that panel that is not very expensive and would allow optimal aiming of the panel.

Frank, I've seen that Solar Panel at WM also seen the rail bracket for it. It should make a nice set up to keep "1" battery topped off while you boat sits. If you have more than one battery or plan to "Charge" your battery with it after heavy use, it might not be big enough. Since you have power at your dock to charge your battery after heavy use, the panel should work good for you (that's based on you having just 1 battery).

I am concerned how you plan to run the wire from the charger to the battery. Certainly, you don't want to drill a hole in the fuel tank compartment.

The Sunsei SE-400 can be attached to the starboard catbird seat rail with the Sunsei Solar Grip and the wires run down to the battery through the hole for my electric start o.b. connection. I hope it can be attached in such a way that the seat can still be used. Both items can be purchased at WM for around 150.00. My only question is: will the unit perform as well as my 110 GUEST trickle charger.
