I'm thinking of moving my batteries into the v berth locker. Will this help out with the Capri "squat" by balancing off the outboard weight, or will it be too much weight too close to the bow?

Thanks.

Rick

My $0.02 as a racer. Putting weight forward does not sound like a good (or fast) idea.

I once heard the parts of a boat described thus:

Forward of the mast (Frontier land): ideally suited for 100lb monkeys.

Middle of the boat (Speed land): the typical domain of 200lb gorillas.

Behind the traveler (Fantasy Land!): typically inhabited by……(since I still want a ride for next season, I'll let you insert your own text here)

Anyway, I would suggest keeping the weight in the middle of the boat (ideally over the keel). We always move the sails out of the v-birth into the cabin before leaving the dock. On lighter wind days we also move the outboard from the stern rail to the cabin sole.
