Hey Sport fans, anyone tired of football? If so I would like to organize an C25/250/Capri 25 rondevouze at the 2007 Chicago Strictly Sail Boat show (FEB 1-4 2007 Navy Pier). If I can get at least 5 couples or 10 members interested in getting together Saturday Night (03 FEB) in Chicago I will see what arrangements I can make. Our association will make funds availuable for a small party favor such as a couple of drinks and a hamburger if we get 5-10 members to commit to a rondevous at this years Strictly Sail Show in Chicago. As a general rule staying at the Holiday Inn off Michigan Ave just up from Navy Pier offers the best location. Please email or respond to this posting to get on the list. If you have never eaten at WEBBERS Grill you could be in for a great time. Not to mention a great time at the show.

Hi Bill, that sounds good to my. My plans are at 90% right now but I can't firm them up until mid January. If there are not enough people to do what you are thinking of, those who are there could just meet up for drinks. Cheers.
Hey, I have three members who are planning to meet in Chidcago on Saturday Night for drinks and food we are looking for members to participate, please email me your names so I can make the resorvations.
This is an excellent idea. I was quit impressed with the generosity of the C25 Association and forwarded your idea to the other three C25 sailors in the Lafayette Sailing Club. We'll see you there. The Strictly Sail Show has plenty of seminar, exhibits, displays, and events. I'd suggest that if anybody is in the region, and they are undecided, then they should take Bill up on his offer. This is a pretty good deal.
Bill, please add me to your list. I plan to attend.
I have some questions. A couple of the seminars require that you sign up for them in advance, and there is a fee for attending. Do I understand correctly that all the rest of the seminars are free, and that you just show up without pre-registration? Are they held in the same building? About how long is each seminar, so I know how frequently to schedule them. Thanks in advance for the info!
Steve as far as I know the seminars are free and last 45 min to an hour max. I don't go to many of them as I have found them to be generaly boring! But hey look forward to see you there.
As it turns out, there are a lot of members planning to meet in Chicago, the Rally point will be Saturday Night Febuary 3rd at The Inn of Chicago Best Western, 162 East Ohio St, Chicago, at 1830 in the hotel loby. From there we will proceed to dinner. Please contact me for questions once you are in Chicago at 574-253-3878 (my Cell) for further liasons.
Just to keep this on the first page of the form, This is the week for Stictly Sail Chicago, please read the previous post for information on where we will meet and contact info. See you There!
Anyone who is going Sunday should know that the show will only be open on Sunday from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm. Originally it was to be open until 6:00 pm, but they shortened the hours due to the Super Bowl. I just now checked the Chicago Strictly Sail website to be sure, before posting it here.

Many other vendors will honor a quote for a while after that if they gave it to you at the show. Some vendors offer show prices on store purchases or web orders during show dates--for example (make a note), Defender runs a pretty good sale during the Miami show 2/15-19. No doubt they won't be alone.

Kip, if you don't want to order the sails then and there, I'd ask the guy making the quote to make a note on it as to how long he'll honor the quote. Most people will give you at least a few days to consider a quote at a boat show.
Saturday is the big night for the Catalina 25 Association get to gether, please be prepared to meet at the Inn Of Chicago Best Western on OHIO st at 1830. There maybe a Catalina Party at the show once it closes that we will all be invited too. We will make the decission at 1830 to go to it first or just go eat. Do Not loose your show bracelet so that you can get back in if we decide to return for the free party and meet with other fleet sailors. I would highly recommend that if you are coming from out of town, buy your beer and cigarrets (if you smoke) at home, they will be alot cheaper. Hopefully we will have five association members show up to meet the minimum number of participants to help offset the meal cost at $30 per member not to exceed 10 members. $330 will go a long way in cocktail cost and food. See You There!

If you're attending the boat show, be sure to spend some time listening to Jack Klang. He discusses sail trim, docking techniques, line handling, and other subjects, and he's excellent. I attended seminars all day yesterday, and learned a lot more usable information from him than from all the seminars put together. You can buy a CD or book full of his tips for $20. He's located all the way at one end of the exhibition hall.
We, Had a cold time, and a GREAT Time at the Strictly Sail rendezvous!!! Randy Carie, Steve Milby, Mathew Larue, Lewie Wallace, Kip, Betsy, Ean & Abby Casada, and I all had a great meal at the "Seventh of Heaven" Restaurant on OHIO ave. They came from Brookville OH, Lafeyette IN, Holland MI, Salt Lake, UT, and North Manchester, IN. The conversation was wild and crazy, the food was excellent, and the warm good cheer was shared by all. It only goes to prove, Midwest sailing in the winter is all about the preparation for the summer. With robust talk of new sails, sailing schedules for this summer, and why won't Frank at Catalina reintroduce the old 25, the crew all had a great time. The weather was "0" with a -15 - -20 wind chill and those of us from Indiana were challenged to stand up to the Bears fans, but we enjoyed it all. Wish you were there too.
