I fabricated a swing keel shoe, or skid plate, by modifying a pair of very similar bronze sugar scoops. If any of you have been considering fully encapsulating your swing keel in fiberglass, these could go a long way towards protecting your handiwork from getting ground away during minor accidental encounters with the bottom.
