I've had mine for three years. Generally it's a good unit although like most it has a problem in certain sea conditions that the "sea state" function cannot overcome and the "tack" function is pretty much useless.
You have to make sure you install it exactly as described in the instructions, ensuring in particular that it is pushing and pulling the tiller in a straight line and horizntaly. Mine was not initially, which caused the gear mechanism inside to prematurly wear out. All the moving parts inside are nylon. If you've installed it correctly, it's as good a unit as any and less expensive than most.
A word of caution however, it is always better to buy a unit one size up from your boat. You'll be happier with the increased performance, and you'll get a few extra features. The price will be a bit more of course. A friend of mine bought the TP20 for her C25 and "loves it". I am merely satisfied with my TP10.
Another word of caution if you buy an autopilot. From personnal experience single-handing, make sure you have a manual system for backup that you have tested and know works for you.
Thanks for the advice. My "manual system" is a bungee wrapped 3 times around the tiller and hooked to each of the lazerette locks. Even with an online purchase the TP10 would run close to 400 bucks. I'll cruise with the bungee until I win the lottery
As with any used product on the internet, you can find these cheaper than you think. Keep an eye on Ebay. I found a bran new unit(TP10) on Ebay last year. The owner had just taken it out of his sailboat because it didn't work right out of the box. He sent it back for warranty repair to Simrad. They fixed it in 2 weeks and then sent it right back, but . . . Katrina went through and sank his boat! He sent me the repair paperwork just in case it didn't work as the factory said it would. Cost: $300.

Good price, but it doesn't include the mounting hardware or the plug in assessory to power it from the main stern battery. Closer to 400 with tax and shipping.
