For about the fourth time I have had to unplug my chain locker drain hole after mud and small shells off the anchor have stopped it up. When I went out to Chick-a-pea Saturday to fill the potable water tank the chain locker was full of rain water. The only real problem with that is the potable water tank vent is in the chain locker also and so if it was to get full enough the rain water with the anchor mud would be back-flow into the potable H2O tank. So I'm heading to Home Depot and Lowes to look for a screen of some sort. But it needs to be pretty solid so if the anchor bangs it it will not disintegrate. I was thinking along the lines of something like an up-side-down tea leaf strainer.
I think all the 250's have the same drain. Before you go to all that trouble, you might pull the access panel off in the locker and look at the drain tube. Mine was crimped and used to stop up all the time until I replaced the hose. Now I never have a problem. It's standard rubber hose. I don't remember the size, but, any hardware store should carry it.
I think I have the chain locker drain blockage problem solved. When I sto' the anchor sometimes it has mud with small shells and they get clogged in the drain hose. So I found some strainers at Ace Hardware in the plumbing isle. I bought three and found that a 1 & 3/8 in. fit right into the socket.
Ben, how did you remove the white insert in the drain hole? It has two notches for a tool to spin it out, but I can't get it to move. You can't insert the "crumb cup" unless it's removed.
I didn't remove anything. There is a slight indent where the fitting is and I just put a bead of silicone on the rim of the strainer and set it into the indent. It fits almost perfectly. Actually, the one pictured in the package is not the one I used. The photo shows a 1" and I used a 1 & 3/8" diameter.
