Here is a short video to my LED interior cabin lights.

Open the window as wide as you can to see the full size (and turn on your sound!).

Excellent job on the media. And I liked the way you hung the lamps from the compression post!

I've toyed with the idea of installing interior LEDs for several years but realized that I've probably not used the stock lights more than 30 minutes in 16 years. I tend to use a gas-fired lantern since it provides adequate light and, on cool nights, which are common in Nortern Michigan, heats the cabin.

Of more pressing concern are navigation lights, particularly a low-draw anchor light. I have priced some LED nav lights in West Marine and they are expensive - $380 for an anchor light, $200+ for running lights. I am inclined to add the anchor light only and put a dodger on the boat instead of LED running lights. The real question I suppose is, after 16 years of adding and upgrading equipment on my C25 - around $4,000, do I want to put another $1700 into it? Decisons, decisons!

I have seen LEDs suitable for the anchor light for less than $50. I'll have to go hunt them down again.

Al,

I installed an LED Anchor Light this past Spring. It was an OGM Anchor Light coast Guard approved for 2NM. Depending on what literature you read from the company it draws between .15 - .20 amps. It also has a photocell that turns it off at daylight. It cost about $130. My original anchor light was not working and I was rewiring the mast, replacing the anchor light, Windex (which had recently slipped) and VHF antenna. Here's the website from the manufacturer -

The LED running lights made by OGM and some other companies was very expensive. So...for the present time, I have passed up that project. I am interested in using LEDs in the cabin. But have not jumped into that project yet. Still looking into it among other things.
