Heading to the San Juans for a week. Trailering the boat up from Olympia, WA and will have it sling launched at Cap Sante Boat Haven. I had last years trip canceled due to work, but all is set to go this year. Boat is on trailer in front of house I will be on the road this afternoon with launch set up for first launch in the morning. I will follow up with pictures and story next week.

Will be there next summer for 4 weeks plus. Very interested to see the pictures. It just gets better each time I go there. Great people, great boats to meet and see.
I live across Lake Almanor,Ca. from Jim (Sweetcraft)and will also be sailing the San Juans next summer.I sailed there,in my first C-25,a number of times and it was always a blast. I Just purchased another C-25 and can't wait until I can take it North again. Who knows maybe we can have a C-25 raftup somewhere??
Well, everything went great on our trip. The San Juans certainly live up to their reputation. Didn't get very many pictures, to busy taking it all in. Here is a short recap:
We left Olympia late Monday night and drove to Anachortas. Our trip was cut short by three days due to a meeting my company scheduled for me on Monday (we were going to leave on Friday night), so we just made the best of the days left. Stayed the first night in hotel and got up early the next day to prepare the boat for launch. Boat loaded and ready to go:
Day 1 (Tuesday)- sling launched boat at Cap Sante Marina in Anachortas. We were the first launch in the morning. Parked the truck/trailer and loaded final provisions. We then headed out for Guemes Chanel to cross over to the islands. We then found out what heavy winds and opposing tides is all about. After beating into the waves and water coming over the bow, we both decided to turn tail and head back to Cap Sante Marina and explore Anachortas for a day and let the weather change. Here is a picture of the marina break water:
Day 2 & 3 (Wed & Thurs) - Left Cap Sante Marina and headed down Guemes Chanel crossed Rosario Strait over to the islands. Made it to Rosario Resort on Orcas Island. We stayed two days here and just enjoyed the down time. Here are a couple pictures of Rosario:
Day 4 (Friday) - Left Rosario behind went west out Wasp Passage and crossed San Juan Channel over to Roche Harbor. We stayed here one night and toured the sites. Also watched the changing of the colors - this is a nice little flag lowering ceremony they do at last light. Here are a couple pictures of Roche Harbor:
Day 5 (Saturday) - Crossed San Juan Channel and went east to Deer Harbor. This was my favorite marina. After hanging out in the larger marina's, it was nice to have this quite little harbor to explore. Sorry no pictures.
Day 6 (Sunday) - Headed out early and headed for Cap Sante Marinia. We put boat back on trailer around lunch time, strapped her down and headed home.
This was an awesome vacation. We left so much behind to explore next time we go up there. We are already planning for next year's trip. We are going up for two weeks next year so we can get to some of the remote anchorages/islands.

Great trip, thanks for the pictures. We plan to do the same trip this coming spring, as soon as it warms up. And use Cap Sante as our base, but I am also considering Skyline Marina.
Where did you park your car and trailer? Were you able to sail much or mostly motor? ... Jim _/)
Wil, did you have your boat sling launched with the mast up? What did it cost? If you did it with the mast down, how did you go about getting it up, so to speak? ;-)
Kevin, I raised the mast on the trailer - then had them launch with a travel lift. It was $45.00 round trip. Went pretty smooth. I paid the full amount when launching and they gave me a card to give to the attendendent for on the way out. I called ahead and set up launch time and again called ahead for haul out. I set up for first launch in the 8:00 AM (first launch of day) - that way I was there at about 6:00 AM and set up mast/boat and was ready to go. This way I was out of the way before they got busy, plus it was still cool and putting the mast up is way easier when not in the heat. On return trip, I docked at the haul out, went and got my truck/trailer, gave the attendent the card, was on the trailer in about 10 minitues. Pulled up dropped the mast and made ready to travel. I was on the road in about 1-1/2 hr. (I had lunch first at the resturant near the marina before hitting the highway) Note: this lift was hardley in use when I was there. It was easy to schedule a time.
FYI - They have a smaller lift as well, but you can't raise the mast on the trailer - have to do in the water. A lot of the smaller boats were doing it this way. It has a max 4500 lb. lift capacity though. Note: This lift was busy the whole time I was there.
Kevin, There is also lift facilities in Flounder Bay west of Anachortas. I was thinking of trying them next year? It is a short hop accross Rosario Strait to the islands.
I think there is Anachortas Marina and Skyline Marina?
The Marina at Flounder Bay is Skyline. I have been there by car but never launched from there, they also have a ramp that is nearby in Washington Park. I think they may be a better choice since it is closer to San Juans. I am still trying to figure what to do with car and trailer. When I talked to Cap Sante they said they did not allow car/trailer storage.
Jim, Cap Sante doesn't provide any parking long term. The Port of Anacortes does have a long term parking lot that you can purchase parking for cars and boat/trailers. I think I paid about $15.00 for a week? It is about 1/2 mile from Cap Sante Marina. Here is a link to the Marina Map.
I didn't look at the ramp at Washington Park, but I heard it was pretty exposed to Rosario Strait??
cap sante raised their prices for car trailer storage. we stored ours at a ministorage place over by the refinery. there is also a place near there called circus storage in an old drivein movie. both places are about 1/3 or 1/4 the cost of cap sante. also, i had cap sante help me with unstepping my mast. i believe my haulout and unstepping were about 60 bucks total. i wont ever step or unstep again on my own. they saved me much heartache and strain. took about 30 minutes all told.
