I'm not sure this is the correct name for the plate that the backstay attatches to.
We are rebedding all our deck hardware. I removed one bolt but I can't seem to remove the plate. Does anyone know if it is bolted through under the rubrail?

Thanks
Shauneen

I am going to guess that it is you should be able to see it via contorting ones neck and looking through the hatch in the back of the quarterberth.

Aft you will hear that piece refered to as a stern chain plate or a tang.

Yes it is. I don't think I would remove it. If it was me, I would just run a clean bead of sealant along the tang where it meets the hull/deck edge and call it good.
