Lowering the mast on a C-250 (although tougher than a C-22)is not a big deal. And for those of us in hurricane country it is a good idea to keep in pratice. I lower mine aft and then slid it forward and I can easily reach the crane.
I just went up a 55 ft. mast using a body harness and the jib halyard to retrieve the main halyard of a 36' Olsen. The owner winched me up. But I did tie off after passing the lower and then the upper spreaders just in case something failed. That way I would not come all the way down to the deck.
