The starboard aft cleat on my boat needs replaced. What looked like a simple task at the outset now seems more complex. My 1o year old is not to crazy about crawling through the battery hole to hold the wrench on the nut while I use a Phillips head to remove the screw. Option 2 is to remove the bulkhead to gain access. Does anyone another suggestion?

10 years old...have you tried offering him cash, or mcdonalds happy meals, or time on the tiller or a swift kick in the bottom side if he doesn't comply.

I'm not sure about the bulkheads on the 250, but if its a 10 year old crawling around or a bulkhead or a little kid crawling around, I'd take the boy to the orphanage and explain to him that he can hold a wrench for 5 minutes, or you'll trade him in for a different little guy who will.

Seriously, I'm kidding about beating up on your child - but if it keeps you from pulling the bulkhead, it might be worth a baseball game or a day at the batting cages or a round of golf

The aft bulkhead (on my '03 WK) is very easy to remove. Just several screws holding it in place if I remember correctly. A good job for a cordless drill with a Phillips bit.

can you get a vise grip on it? lock it on and duct tape it to the inside so that it doesn't spin.

Thanks All. I think I will go with bribery first, followed by threats of setting sail without said 10 year old, after that, vice-grips and duct tape shold work.

After reading your post and installing the battery in my C250 WB yesterday that rear panel does not look like a big deal to remove. It would also allow a small adult to crawl back there and maybe do the job quicker and easier. As for the front cleats I believe on a C250 they are accessible through the inspection plate located in the anchor compartment.
